Taking Sam's OATH takes about 60 seconds. You choose your connection to the cause, you enter your name and where you're from, and you commit to four things: Openness, Authenticity, Togetherness, and Healing.
That's it. No donation required. No account to create. No personal details you're not comfortable sharing.
But here's what I've learned from the families who have taken it: those 60 seconds matter more than you'd think.
For some people, it's the first time they've ever acknowledged out loud that substance use or mental health has touched their family. They've spent years keeping it private, and clicking that button is the moment they decide to stop carrying it alone.
For others, it's a declaration. They already talk about it. They've already been open. But taking Sam's OATH makes it official. It says: I'm part of something bigger than my own family's experience.
And then there's the map.
When you take Sam's OATH, a pin drops on our interactive map showing where you are. You can see pins across the country, color-coded by connection: teal for people supporting a loved one, orange for people on their own journey of hope and recovery, green for people standing with the movement.
Every pin is proof that a family chose openness. And when you zoom out and see how many there are, something shifts. The isolation breaks. You realize this isn't just your family's problem. It's everyone's. And that means it's everyone's to solve.
If you haven't taken Sam's OATH yet, I'd encourage you to. Not because we need your data or your money. Because the act of saying "I'm done being silent about this" has power. Real power. And when you add your voice to the movement, you make it easier for the next person to do the same.
Take it at samsoath.org/take-the-oath. It takes 60 seconds. It might change more than you expect.
